I have been photographing weddings for 10 years… It is an absolute dream job! I find so much joy in being able to document love stories. I have met some incredible people over the last decade and wouldn’t change a thing! However, this past year when I became a mom my focus for my photography shifted a bit. [Brides have nothing to worry about I will continue to photograph weddings]. This year was a full of tremendous joy and exhausting struggle. Becoming a mom has been the greatest adventure I have ever been apart of and I love every single minute of it (even the tough ones!). Adeline has opened my eyes to a whole new part of myself and just makes me giggle all the time. I could seriously snuggle her all day long… If she would let me.. Which she does not!
Anyways, since getting pregnant I have done research on about everything you could imagine having to do with being pregnant, giving birth, and bringing a baby home for the first time… In the process of this I found the most amazing birth center that gave me more helpful and encouraging information than I knew what to do with! I was lucky enough to deliver at their facility and LOVED every aspect of it! In turn I have become a bit obsessed with natural childbirth and all that it entails [I have nothing whatsoever against anyone who chooses to have a medicated birth… It is just not my preference. Childbirth is a miracle no matter the avenue your little makes their appearance]. I photographed a friends c-section and while it was quite intense it was incredibly breathtaking.
I am also quite smitten with babies in general… I mean who isn’t? They’re just so squishy!!
So, this leads me to the point of this post… While I am going to be continuing to shoot weddings I am also going to take my photography in a little different direction. I will be doing more Lifestyle photography. To be more specific I will be offering sessions in all things Bellies + Babes! This includes maternity, childbirth, newborn, family and anything in between!
I am so excited about this!!
The above images were taken by my father, Dave Russell. He is an amazing photographer and the greatest dad a gal could ask for!
I was showing Adeline some photos that he had taken of us… Getting her started early! 🙂
